Thomas Charles Prack

Thomas Charles Prack (Tom) passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026 in Illinois, with his loving and loyal sister, Barbara, by his side. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Born and raised in Oak Park, IL, Tom later moved to Massachusetts for many years, then to Florida, before settling back in Brookfield, IL.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in the 8th Cavalry Armored Division, which patrolled the East German border during the early 1960s. He enjoyed sharing stories from this period of his life with his family.

He spent most of his working career in the office products industry—many years as a salesman and eventually as a sales manager. This work allowed him to meet and talk with many people, perfectly suiting his outgoing personality.

Tom was a lifelong sports fan, occasionally sneaking out of school to catch a Cubs game. He was also a loyal Miami Dolphins fan, which sometimes put him at odds with his family members, New England Patriots fans. He greatly enjoyed participating in the family Fantasy Football League, which he unfortunately never won due to his questionable picks.

Above all Tom was most proud of his family. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle McGowan; his son-in-law, Jay McGowan; and his grandsons Josh McGowan and his wife, Morgan; Zach McGowan and his wife, Lauren; and Sam McGowan and his wife, Pallavi. Tom also had great-grandchildren—Molly, Isla, Ben, and the late Rosie—all of whom affectionately referred to him as Papa. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Prack, Michael Prack, and Mary Lynne Coston, and is preceded in death by his sister, Pat Wegerzyn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Tom will be remembered for his quick wit and charm. His love and laughter will live on forever in our hearts.
