Thomas Andrew Maher

December 14, 1967 – December 27, 2021

Tom Maher was the loving son of the late Joan and James Maher, CPD.

Tom grew up in Chicago, graduating from Brother Rice High School, and went on to study Business at Robert Morris College, graduating with honors. Tom was hardworking and devoted his life to helping students on their path in higher education.

Tom was highly respected by his colleagues, who appreciated his ability to defuse stressful situations with his sense of humor. Tom had the most genuine laugh.

Tom was proud of his parents, and they were so proud of him. He and his father were avid Notre Dame and White Sox fans. Tom's passion for baseball started in his youth, when he was a pitcher. He loved traveling to spring training in Arizona, saying it was like a bit of heaven.

Tom looked out for others before himself. After his father passed, he took loving care of his mother.

Tom was happiest when he was on the road - side by side with Denise.

He loved her dearly. They traveled extensively, one adventure after another, enjoying the incredible beauty of our country.

Tom was humble and committed, with a sincerity that was rare – a kind and gentle soul. He is remembered with great love by his family, friends, coworkers, and the many others whose lives he touched. Tom will live forever in our hearts.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, James. His mother, Joan, died just three days after Tom’s passing. Tom is survived by Denise; brothers-in-law, John (Wanda) Sitasz, Mark (Martha) Sitasz; aunt Doris Cox (widow of Patrick Cox); three nieces, and many cousins.

Visitation will be held for Tom and his mother, Joan, at 10:00 a.m. with a joint memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on June 11, 2022, at First Congregational Church of La Grange, 100 South 6th Ave., La Grange IL 60525. Entrance to an elevator is on Cossitt Ave. Parking is available on the west side of 6th Avenue and in the municipal parking garage at 56 South 6th Avenue.
