Born to Mildred Simik and William Blazina, Sylvia grew up in Berwyn, Illinois, where she developed a lifelong passion for education and the natural world. A dedicated educator, Sylvia spent her career inspiring young minds as a physical education teacher. Her enthusiasm for fitness and her ability to connect with students left a lasting impact on countless lives. Beyond the classroom, Sylvia was a lifelong learner, continually seeking new adventures and knowledge. Her love for nature and wildlife led her to travel extensively, exploring diverse landscapes and cultures, bringing her joy and wonder in every corner of the globe.
Sylvia was predeceased by her parents and sibling, Vincent Blazina. She is survived by her brother, Robert; her nieces and nephews Vincent, Jennifer, Katherine and David; grand niece and grand nephews, Hayden, Robbie, Isla, Ben, Cam, and Anders; and many dear friends.
A private memorial service to celebrate Sylvia's life will be held on October 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund (https://protect.worldwildlife.org/page/53256/donate/) in her memory.
