Susan shared nearly 62 years of marriage with the love of her life, Ronald Nicholas, whom she married on November 14, 1964. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Westmont, Illinois, before later making their homes in Romeoville and then Yorkville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gloria Henning, her siblings, Robert (Linda) Henning and Heather Henning, and her beloved grandchild, Andrew Murphy. She is survived by her siblings, Todd (Ann) Henning and Kyle Jacobsen, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and Ronald raised three children: Lisa Puentes (William), Daniel Nicholas (Cindy), and Laura Carey (Ron). Her love multiplied through her grandchildren, Ryan (Devon) Murphy, Tyler Murphy, Zachary Nicholas, Joshua Nicholas, William Daily, Caitlin Daily, Connor Daily, and Keira Daily, along with Bella and Amanda Puentes, Madison Perona (Dominick), and McKenzie Carey. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Jaxon Murphy, Lexi Murphy, and Niko Perona, who brought such light to her later years.
Susan had a gift for bringing people together. She loved entertaining and hosting for the holidays, especially Christmas, when her home was at its warmest and fullest, and she treasured the hours spent playing cards with her family. She also found joy in the simpler pleasures of life: baking and trying new recipes, losing herself in a good book, and traveling, where she never failed to make new friends along the way. Above all, she had a generous heart that was always drawn toward those in need. She was an authentic person in the truest sense, someone who loved people for exactly who they were on the inside.
More than any list of names can capture, Susan was the center that held everyone together. She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren with her whole heart, and that love was felt by everyone lucky enough to be part of her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
