

A Legacy of Love, Wisdom and Faith
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Stephen. He peacefully departed this world on May 16, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and a fierce faith for Jesus. Our cherished life memories will forever be etched in our hearts.
Born on February 10, 1938, Stephen was a pillar of faith, strength and a source of wisdom for his family and friends. His unwavering faith in the Lord touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to offer guidance and support, always willing to lend a listening ear or share his words of wisdom.
As a devoted family man, Stephen lived his life for his family. He was a loving and supportive husband to Linda (Reed) Herner, a nurturing father to Stephen (Michelle), Stephanie and Katelyn (Ken), a proud grandfather to Reed (Alex), Quinn (Sarah), Ethan, William, Emily, Max, and Stephen, three grand cats and one grand dog. His unconditional love, guidance, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Stephen's life on June 1, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12:00 the memorial service to immediately follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5211 Carpenter Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Together, let us remember the countless memories we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the profound impact he had on our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a cause that held special meaning to Stephen.
As we say farewell to Stephen let us carry his legacy of faith in our hearts and actions. May that wisdom, love, and unwavering faith guide us through life's challenges. Though he may no longer be physically present, his memory will forever remain, reminding us to live each day with gratitude, compassion, and in praise of the Lord.
Stephen’s life has woven a beautiful story of love, strength, and resilience. His spirit will forever live on, continuing to inspire us and reminding us of the importance of family, love, and faith.
