Robert was a previous resident of Chicago, IL where he graduated St. Willibrord High School. He later graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana in 1958. He served his country in the United States Army 1952-1954 and later retired as a Vice President at Continental Illinois Bank in 1987. At the bank he was active with the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, the bank’s American Legion Post (now Bank of America Post 383), and enjoyed friendships and friendly competition through the bank’s Ski Club, Softball and Bowling Leagues. In retirement he enjoyed volunteering, reading, gardening, fishing, playing golf, traveling with his wife, and spending time with family.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Judith “Judy” (nee Poland) Kline; loving sister, Mary Lynn (Jon) Haacke of Denver; and many caring nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and nephews; and two great-grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Calvin G Kline and Effie (nee Veltman) Kline; brother, Harvey Z. Kline and his wife, Barry Lee Kline; two nieces; and two nephews.
Celebration of Life is planned for Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main St., Lombard, IL 60148. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., service will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, ASPCA, or The Outreach House in Lombard.
