Bob enjoyed a long and successful career in the insurance industry beginning as an underwriter with Royal-Globe in 1974. He retired after many years at The Hartford. His expertise and professionalism earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Whether at work or in life, Robert took pride in his appearance and was considered a dapper dresser.
Bob's life-long love of photography began in high school; he captured images with a discerning eye. His passion for exploring historic cities and battlefields fueled many vacations.
A day on the golf course lifted Bob's spirits. He even hit a hole-in-one!
Bob was devoted to maintaining the family home in Oak Park inside and out. He had the tools to maintain, fix, or repair almost anything.
The faithful companionship of a dog enriched his life. Each dog was walked every evening, sometimes with a cat trailing along.
His faith was a cornerstone of his life; Bob was a devoted member of Ascension Church in Oak Park, Illinois, where he actively participated in the Holy Name Society, Scouting, and as a Eucharist Minister. He had a regular pew at early Sunday mass.
Grandy loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. He would entertain them with his Donald Duck impression, and share his stash of “Grandy Cookies” and sweet tarts.
Bob’s warmth, generosity, humor, and kindness touched many lives. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Ascension Catholic Church or Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025; family and friends will gather from 10am to 11am at Ascension Catholic Church 808 S East Ave, Oak Park, IL 60304. Memorial Mass will follow at 11am.
