Ray was born and raised in Chicago and, throughout his life, called many places home. He was a former resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, Big Lake, Minnesota, near the Twin Cities, and Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, just outside Nashville, before returning to the Chicago area shortly before his passing.
Ray and his wife, Judy, enjoyed traveling across the country in their beloved “Silver Twinkie,” making memories and enjoying the adventure along the way. He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, rafting, and canoeing. He also enjoyed working out and both watching and playing sports, with baseball and golf among his favorites.
Ray loved a good card game or a friendly game of pool, preferably with a glass of Canadian Mist or an ice-cold beer nearby. But more than anything, Ray loved his family and friends. He cherished spending time with the people he loved, experiencing life, sharing laughter, and creating memories that will be remembered for years to come.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Jill Marie Greenidge; stepdaughter, Margaret (Paul) Georgelos; grandchildren, Michael Bruno, Nicolette (Jacob) Tassone, Natalia Greenidge, Megan Kinney, Nolan Kinney, Alexandra (Ben) Gaither, and Nicholas Georgelos; great-grandchildren, Ashton Tassone, Dominic Tassone, Elias Kinney, Luca Kinney, and Ozzy Kinney; and sister, Judith (George) Dennison.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith G. Nickel, and his stepson, David Kinney.
Services will be private for family.
