Nita Louise Gandy

Nita L.Gandy, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at her Daughters home in Forest View IL. She was born December 11, 1955 in Chicago IL, to Charles and Drucilla (Davenport) Mayor. She was raised in Oak Park IL and went to Oak Park River Forest High School.

Nita met the love of her life, the boy next door Tommy. A beautiful Love Story. Together they eloped and she married Tom Gandy September 6,1973 in Adel Georgia. Nita was a homemaker and raised their 2 daughters Laura and Angeleque. Nita truly loved life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening in her yard, She loved planting flowers and plants. She enjoyed drawing and painting, cooking for her family, decorating for the holidays, reading, going antiquing and enjoying nature. Nita had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her Daughters Laura (Matt) Froehlig, Angeleque (Kevin) Pason and her Grandson Tommy Froehlig. Her Twin brother Danny Mayor, Sister in Law Barbara Mayor, Sister in Law Sandra (John) Godlewski. Niece Julie (Willy) Drews, Nephews Jeff (Jen Zoltowski) Mayor, Ryan Mayor and Dan Godlewski. Great Nephew Tyler Drews and Great Niece Haley Drews along with Many beloved Family and Friends.

Nita was proceeded in death by her Loving Husband Tom Gandy, Parents, Charles and Drucilla Mayor, Sister Carol Aldous, Brother Chuck Mayor and Nephew Michael Aldous.

Family and Friends, and Those whose lives Nita touched are invited to a CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE MEMORIAL AT THE SOCIAL ROOM IN INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE, 1300 S. Finley Rd Lombard IL 60148 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023 In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the family where they are planting a Tree in her honor and making a donation to the American Lung Association.
