Michael Marchio passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 20, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most, his four children. Michael fought a long and hard battle with stage four cancer. Michael was raised in Chicago Heights, Illinois by his parents, Ralph Marchio and Victoria Vendetti. He was a graduate of Bloom Township High School and Illinois State University. He is preceded in death by his two parents, and younger brother Ralph.
Michael is survived by his 4 children, Sidney (Trevor) Marchio, Isabel Marchio, Thomas Marchio, and Michela Marchio. He is also survived by his older brother Anthony Marchio, and younger brother Jeff Marchio.
But we all know that he is truly survived by all of us. From now on, it will be our job to keep his memory alive by telling everyone we know about him and what a great person he was. He would probably roll his eyes at that, but it is true. There was truly no one like him. Michael was very accomplished in his career and made many strong friendships throughout it. He traveled the country but always made an effort to be around for all of his children’s most important moments. Graduations, awards, home renovations, and more, he was there. His children were his greatest accomplishment. He would brag about them to anyone who would listen. He taught all his children how to fish and would practice volleyball, football, and basketball, and his favorite game, horseball after a long day and long commute home from work. He loved the outdoors, fly fishing, sunrises, sunsets, and the moon. He was also very creative and even taught himself how to play the piano.
Michael spent the last year of his life living in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he developed some of the strongest relationships with those who he met there and those who would visit him. He shared his love for Friday night pizza nights and fly fishing while living out there. He loved restaurants and in his retirement made it clear that he needed to make sure he had enough money each month to take all of his children out to a nice dinner. We all thought we would be getting more time with Michael. He was a very private person and did not let most of those around him know how deeply he was struggling. He was the greatest dad ever and we are all so lucky to be able to care for and be with him in his final moments.
