Mary Elizabeth Reimer

Mary Elizabeth “Maribeth” Reimer, 65, of La Grange, Illinois, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on September 24, 2026. Born October 8, 1960, she was a devoted mother, beloved Nana, loving partner, and a woman who brought joy wherever she went.

Maribeth loved her work as an administrative assistant for the Village of Riverside. A true rock-and-roll queen, she loved AC/DC and could often be found singing wherever she went. At concerts, she was known to sing loud enough to rival the band itself. She loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears. She was an excellent baker who was always making something for the people she loved.

Maribeth was the beloved wife of the late Kirk Reimer, who passed away in 1995. She later found love again with John Kwasny, her fiancé and partner of seven years. Together they traveled, attended countless concerts, and were always looking for their next adventure. John became family and never left Maribeth’s side during the months leading up to her passing, caring for her with unwavering love and devotion.

She was the devoted mother of Christopher Reimer, Daniel Reimer (Lindsey), and Kevin Reimer (fiancée Amanda Hatfield). She adored her three sons and was incredibly proud of them.

Of all the roles in her life, however, none brought her more happiness than being a Nana. Her grandchildren, Emmy, Camden, Brady, and Parker, were her greatest joy. She loved playing with them, singing with them, and creating memories they will carry with them forever. One of their favorite traditions was the “rolling machine,” a game that Kirk had played with his sons and that Maribeth lovingly carried on with her grandchildren.

Maribeth is survived by her three sons, Christopher, Daniel (Lindsey), and Kevin (Amanda); her beloved fiancé, John Kwasny; and her four cherished grandchildren, Emmy, Camden, Brady, and Parker. She is also survived by her siblings Claudia Ryan, Anne Bonner, Stephen Fourie, Therese Glass, and William Fourie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lorraine Fourie, and her brothers, James and Richard Fourie.

Maribeth leaves behind a family who will forever hear her voice in the songs she loved, remember her joyful spirit, treasure the recipes she baked, and feel her presence in the traditions she passed down. Most of all, she leaves behind four grandchildren who were lucky enough to call her Nana.

She will be deeply missed.

In keeping with Maribeth’s wishes, her family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are finalized.
