Mary Ann Cyr, age 82, a resident of Downers Grove, IL, died after a long battle with congestive heart failure. She passed away in hospice care provided by Angel’s Grace at Oak Trace Senior Living in Downers Grove, IL. Mary Ann attended Providence High School and St. Anne’s Nursing School Chicago, IL.
After graduating from nursing school, Mary Ann spent 33 years as a very dedicated registered nurse. She was in charge of her floor during her tenure at MacNeal Hospital. After that, she spent 15 years at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. Mary Ann was always in very high stress jobs spending the bulk of her career in Surgical Intensive Care.
After 33 years as a registered nurse, Mary Ann retired to the North Woods of Ponsford, Minnesota where she spent 32 years. While there, Mary Ann enjoyed time with her neighbors, Gloria and Chuck, and she loved daily activities at her local Catholic church. In 2014, she returned to Illinois to enjoy life with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mary Ann followed in her parents footsteps by always practicing her Catholic faith diligently. She truly lived the line from the prayer of St. Francis: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is doubt, let me sow faith.” Mary Ann prayed for so many, she prayed every day, often doing the rosary at 3:00 every afternoon.
Reading, painting, embroidery, doing crossword puzzles, dancing, loving animals, and fiercely playing Bingo, Mary Ann loved all of these activities. She loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially treasured time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She leaves behind her loving brother, Richard(Kathleen) Cyr, her children Lisa (Ken) Pardue, Aleen (Greg) Hartje, Suzanne (Tom) Molitor, and Peter (Wendi) Paul, her grandchildren Matthew, Lindsey, Sara, Jeffrey, Emmalyn, Bradford, Joshua, and Benjamin, her great grandchildren Savannah, Jack, Haddie, Troy, Eden, and James, and her many nieces and nephews.
