This is photo of a gathering of some of Lou's friends for the Three Tenors Opera. My wife Sonny and I both loved and cherished all the many times and events we spent together. 
Sadly, there will never be anyone with the love and generosity that Lou shared with all his friends, He has left an indelible mark on all of us who were privileged to know him.

Beautiful memories with our family. We the (3) cousins  admired  how you supported Caroline to make her life comfortable. Your children are the best of  you and their mom. The party can begin there waiting for you.

Friend.  Short, sweet, and to the point. Just like Louie D. If there were ever an individual to personify the Chicago chemical market, it would be Louie. He was known as an "always" guy.  He always was there, always had an answer, a question, a remark, a reference, an idea, a relationship, and made you feel as though you were always part of it.

I am a better person having shared time on the Earth with Lou. He taught me much about Chicago, the chemical industry, relationships, and life. I am indebted to him.  There weren't many like him, but I sure am glad he was one I got to know. I believe God blessed us by having Lou around us for all that time.

Sorry to hear about Lou.  Both my wife and I always enjoyed his company.  Won't be able to attend his celebration of life.  Ann and I will always have fond memories of our times spent with him.

Lou is a legend! He never met a stranger and that included me. I met Lou in 1995 at a Chicago Drug & Chemical Event.  We became fast friends.  Here we are 30 years later, and I can still remember some of his off-color jokes and sayings.  He was a constant giver, always trying to mentor and assist up and comers in our industry.  He certainly left a mark on me.  There will never be another Lou D.

I remember being at David's Florida home visiting my sister and David would have his feet up on the corner of his desk always on the phone with Lou. I did get to meet him at David's memorial service and discovered we were neighbors! My deepest condolences.

We met Connie & Lou during a 2023 Rhine River cruise.
Together, we searched high and low for restaurants to have lunch or dinner, and did lots of shopping.
We ate dinner together most nights and here is a photo of one such evening.
Connie & Lou were the ultimate dou, we're very sorry for Lou's passing.

To know Lou was to love Lou!  To cherish this man was a very easy thing to do! As one of Cheryl's lifelong besties, I had the joy and the gift of spending time with Smooth Lou on many occasions over the years to witness his incredible energy and endless zest for life. He was a treasure to behold.  More important, however, I was keenly aware through countless accounts from Cheryl throughout several decades of what a truly kind, loving, generous-hearted and supportive father he was.   Despite his physical stature, anyone who knew him would attest that there is no question that Mr. D was a GIANT of a man in all the ways that matter.  He leaves behind an incredible legacy in Cheryl, Louie and their beautiful families.  While he will be sorely missed, he unquestionably made a mark in this world, and he has left this planet with so many fond memories in the hearts of all of us who had the privilege to have walked some of his journey with him.  RIP, Lou.  Be the heavenly angel to your family just as you were a towering force for them while you were here.   Cheers, Lou ... may the bar always be open! xoxoxo
