Kimberly Joy Smeltzer

Kimberly Joy Smeltzer, 51, of Downers Grove, passed away on December 27, 2024 after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on January 25, 1973 in La Jolla, CA. Kimmy grew up in Lyons and graduated from Nazareth Academy and Southern Illinois University with a degree in Forestry. She worked for the National Park Service; working across the country including at the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Shenandoah and Yosemite. She loved to travel and enjoyed many scuba diving trips with her college friends. Kimmy was a caring sister and a loyal friend. She is preceded in death by her father, Danny Smeltzer. Kim is survived by her mother, Rosemary Smeltzer, her sister Jennifer (Michael) Woods, her brother Daniel (Emily) Smeltzer and nieces and nephews: Ben (Marlee and Madison), Joshua & Nathan Woods, Daniel, Jason, Meredith and Malcolm Smeltzer.

A funeral mass is planned for January 25, 2025 at Divine Savior Catholic Church in Downers Grove at 10AM.
