John Warren Kautenberger

John Kautenberger “Dr. Johnny K”, 69, of West Chicago, IL formerly of Carol Stream, IL passed away December 15, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Loving father of Melissa (Ryan Straw) Kautenberger and Patricia (Corey Richter) Kautenberger; cherished grandfather of Audrey Straw and soon-to-be baby Straw (Feb); also survived by the Tiffins, his late wife’s family, and his brother-in-law, Mike Boskovic. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Kautenberger and his second wife, Donna Kautenberger; his son, Warren Kautenberger “his little man”; sister, Linda Boskovic; parents, Ruth and John Kautenberger; uncle, Donald Kautenberger; aunt, May (Harvey) Lunell.

John loved rooting for the University of Michigan after growing up on the football field. He started his career in Computer Software/Engineering sales, and later earned his master’s and doctorate. He had a passion for education and gave back by teaching for over 20 years. He was a loved professor and gave his best self to his students. His love of music, dancing, and solving the world’s problems over a bowl of ice cream brought joy to him and his family. He had effortless charm, impeccable storytelling abilities, and an outrageous sense of humor. He was truly legendary and had an impact on all he knew.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home and Cemetery on January 11, 2025 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm with burial to follow at 1:30 pm.
