

She was born June 11, 1937 to Harry and Mary Zemansky of Aurora. She graduated from Madonna Catholic High School in 1955. Joan married Robert Plante in 1957, and together they raised their four children, in Batavia. They were members of Holy Cross Church. She was a volunteer for Suicide Prevention Services. She devoted her life to raising her children, and especially enjoyed their many family vacations, and Sunday trips in their plane. Sadly, she suffered many untimely losses in her life.
In 1978, her oldest daughter Linda died in a car accident, followed 3 years later by the death of Robert from a heart attack. In 1996, her youngest son James died by suicide.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas, Robert, and Harold; sisters, Elaine Eckhoff and Doris Langston and a niece, Karen (Eckhoff) Huddleston.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Ed) Harding and her son, Mark (Sandra) Plante, all of North Aurora; grandchildren, Mallory Harding, Drew Harding, Doug Plante, Sharon (Henrry) Perez and Cara (Amir) Elias; great-grandchildren, Yari and Isaiah Perez; sister-in-law, Shirley Zemansky and brothers-in-law, Robert Eckhoff and Emmett Langston, and many nieces and nephews.
