

Jimmie J. Walker passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, after a courageous two year battle with bone cancer. Jim was the kind of person who instantly put others at ease. He never met a stranger—always ready with an interesting story, a warm smile, and a kind word for everyone he encountered. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and connection, and he will be remembered for his gentle spirit and genuine heart.
Married on Valentine's Day, Jim and Carla were blessed to share 46 beautiful years of marriage. “He was not only my husband, but my best friend, my partner in life, and my greatest joy.”
Born in Corbin Kentucky. In 1956 he joined he joined the Naval academy as a Radioman where he received an honorable mention for service. In 1960, he was assigned to Taiwan Defense Command and lived in Taiwan near Chiang Kai-shek’s daughter. Chiang Kai-shek presided over land reform, economic growth, and the Taiwan Strait crises twice in 1954–1955 and in 1958. He was considered the legitimate leader of China by the United Nations until 1971, when the ROC's seat was transferred to the People's Republic of China. After six years of service, he retired with honors from the Navy. From there he found his calling in the Liquor Industry, working with the Distributors and building a highly successful career. In 2000, he joined his wife in the Real Estate business, where they worked harmoniously as a successful team, always having fun together, and making friends with many of their clients.
Jim was pre-deceased by his mother, Fannie; his brother, Jack, and sister in law, Maddie. He leaves behind his beloved wife Carla; nephew, Keith Walker and his wife, Lyndsey; his niece, Kimberly Walker Riggs, and Jonathon, and their two children, plus six beloved great- nephews. He also leaves behind close relatives in Kentucky who cherished him dearly.
Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but his stories, kindness, and love will live on in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 11am to 12 pm at Fourth Presbyterian Church, Buchanan Chapel, 126 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
