James Frederick Pfister

James F. Pfister, 84, a Korean veteran, loving father of four children, five stepchildren, and wonderful spouse to Gloria Quick, died January 12, 2017. Jim is also survived by many grandchildren and former wife, Gloria Pfister. In the Fall of 1955, Jim enrolled in the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois Urbana campus. After graduation, Jim worked on planning projects for the Urbana-Champaign campus and the new Chicago Circle campus. In the 26 years with the University, he developed the building plans and programming for the University Medical Center Campus. His projects included Colleges of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Medicine, Associated Health Professions, The Health Science Library, and The University Hospital, as well as the Peoria and Rockford Schools of Medicine. He was also instrumental in providing facility programming for a New Health Sciences Campus in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He counted his blessings, taking early retirement and enjoying many active years.
