Hallie Ann Smego

Hallie Ann Smego, age 74, of Oak Brook, IL, formerly of Indianapolis, IN and North Olmstead, OH, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Hallie graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis, IN in 1966. Shortly after her graduation she moved to North Olmstead, OH for a few years and then on to Illinois. She first worked as an Operator for Ohio Bell and later transferred to Illinois Bell. Following her time with the phone companies, Hallie worked for the Nissan Motor Corporation as an Executive Assistant. Later in life, Hallie returned to school to get her Associates Degree and began working at Van Kampen Investments in their accounting department. After her retirement from Van Kampen, Hallie moved to Mayslake Retirement Village in Oak Brook where she stayed active and enjoyed her remaining years with her many friends she made there.

Loving mother of Brian (Megan) Smego; cherished grandmother of Devin Smego and dear sister of Kathleen (Peter) Haburt. She is also survived by many close friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Selwyn Stark; her mother, Lou Ellen Lind and brother, Randy Stark.

A Celebration of Hallie’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 12-3 pm at Gibsons Bar and Steakhouse, 2105 Spring Road. Oak Brook, IL 60523 (Private Dining Room Oak 1, Food and Beverages will be served and Complimentary Valet Parking is available).
