Duane E. Stone

Duane E. Stone, 89, passed away January 18, 2019; he was born July 6, 1929 in Batavia, Illinois the son of Lorraine and Walter Stone. He attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and earned a bachelor of arts degree in teaching and a masters degree in engineering. After college, he went into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Pusan, South Korea from 1951 to 1953 with the Army Engineers. Duane worked in several different Batavia businesses, but his most significant job was teaching industrial arts at Washington Junior High School in Naperville where he retired in 1988 after teaching for 30 years. In 1957 Duane married Ellen F. Freitag whom he was married to for 55 years until her death in 2012. He is survived by his children Dan (Donna) Stone and their children Rachel (Andy) Zorger, Mary (Zac) Fessler and Andrea Stone; his daughter Laurie (Rey) Uberas and their children Stephanie (Jason) May and Courtney Uberas; and Jeff Stone; and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Bickford Assisted Living Facility in Oswego, Illinois.
