August 27, 1950 – January 12, 2025
With heavy hearts, the family of David A. Quinlan announces his passing on January 12, 2025, at the age of 74. Dave’s life, though tragically cut short, was marked by his humor, warmth, and the deep connections he fostered with everyone he met.
Born on August 27, 1950, Dave brought laughter and light wherever he went. He was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving them with a smile and often a joke or a tidbit of trivia he learned from Jeopardy. His passion for life was reflected in his many interests, including golf, playing guitar, and cheering for his favorite sports teams. Music was another constant in Dave’s life—he enjoyed sharing his love of music with everyone.
Dave is survived by his beloved siblings: Mary Ann (Bob) Sherrie, Michael (Lish) Quinlan, Rose Dombrow, Teri (Joe) Fogarty, Tom (Liz) Quinlan, and Jeffrey Quinlan and the bereaved Susan McGuire and James Quinlan. His Uncle Greg (Jane) Zimmerman and his dear friend Tom (Rhonda) Hyde. He was cherished by his many friends, neighbors, cousins, nieces, and nephews, who adored his quick wit, kind spirit, and his humor. His family and friends will forever treasure the moments of joy and laughter he shared with them.
Dave’s passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, humor, and connection will endure.
A memorial service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held on May 24, 2025, at St. Symphorosa Catholic Church (Two Holy Martyrs Parish) at 10:00 am, located at: 6135 S Austin Ave, Chicago, IL 60638.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dave’s memory by sharing kindness with those around you, supporting mental health organizations, Suicide Prevention services like 988, or simply taking a moment to appreciate those around you because you never know when you may lose someone and suicide is a kind of loss that no one should ever have to experience.
Dave will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
