David J Dawson

David J. Dawson, 76 of Downers Grove, Illinois passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018. Dave was born in Detroit Michigan, January 25, 1942. He graduated Cooley High School and then attended George Williams College in Chicago. It was there that he met his wife, Judith L Sutherland and they were married December 21, 1966. They spent 52 years together and had two children, Kenneth and Laura.

Dave was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 where he served two years before returning to finish his last year at George Williams College. He worked for the Southwest YMCA followed by a 30 year guidance counselor career at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. He completed his Master's Degree in counseling during his time at Carl Sandburg.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 3:00 pm at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3910 Highland, Downers Grove, IL. A reception will be held immediately following the service.

Survivors include his wife Judy, his son Ken (Vicky), and granddaughter Kailey.
