Carol A. Warkel, a beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 73. Surrounded by her loving family, she left this world as she lived her life—embraced by love, grace, and gratitude. Born on October 26, 1951 in Chicago, Carol was a beacon of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
She was the beloved wife of David L. Warkel, with whom she shared 55 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and mutual respect—a partnership that inspired all who knew them. As a mother, Carol was the heart of her family. She raised her two sons, Nathan L. Warkel (spouse: Julie Warkel) and Jacob Warkel (spouse: Mary Warkel), with unconditional love and wisdom. She instilled in them the values of compassion, hard work, and integrity—qualities that continue to shine brightly in their lives today. One of the greatest joys of Carol’s life was being “Grandma” to her five treasured grandchildren: Katie Warkel, Payton Warkel, Zane Warkel, Breanne Warkel, and Ryne Warkel. She adored each of them uniquely and found immense happiness in their laughter, milestones, and accomplishments. Whether cheering from the sidelines at their games or sharing quiet moments filled with stories, crocheting, and teaching her grandchildren how to fish, her hugs for them were boundless. Carol had a gift for making everyone feel special. Her warm smile, thoughtful words, and generous spirit touched countless lives. She was an active member helping the veterans at the VFW, where she dedicated her time to helping others and fostering meaningful connections. Her legacy will live on through the countless acts of kindness she performed and the lives she enriched.
In addition to her immediate family, Carol is survived by Barbra Liberman and her wonderful niece Kymm Chavers. She is preceded in death by her mother Geraldine Lomiski, whom she now joins in eternal peace. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are comforted by the knowledge that Carol lived a life full of love, laughter, and purpose. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. “She loved deeply, gave generously, and lived beautifully.”
