He graduated from Parma High School in Parma, Ohio in 1956. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Electrical Engineering from Fenn College in 1962. He also completed his Master’s from Lewis University Illinois.
After working in the steel industry for more than 30 years, Bruce greatly enjoyed substitute teaching for Chicago Public Schools. Just like he did with his own children and grandchildren, he tried to encourage the kids he met to reach their fullest potential in life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Yontez and his mother, Augusta Nering Yontez.
He is survived by (children: Phillip (Kheng) Yontez, Chris (Caroline) Yontez, Heather (Jay) Rzechula, Steven (Stacey) Yontez, his grandchildren Jacob (Tina) Strasse, Kayla Siska, Sydney and Morgan Yontez, Scott Yontez, Marie and Robert Yontez; his great grandson Noah Strasse; and his sisters Jane Ward, Lynn Gates and his brother Ralph Yontez.
Bruce enjoyed reading a variety of genres, watching film noir and classic movies, fishing, trips to Jamaica and spending time with family. He had a great sense of humor, was strong willed and occasionally tried (and sometimes succeeded!) to dress like characters from one of those great film noir movies he always loved.
