Beatrice Lynn (Gismondi) Rand (“Bea Lynn”), aged 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. Born November 16, 1947, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Bea Lynn was the only child of the late Orlando “Early” and Ann Louise (nee Whaley) Rand. She graduated from Uniontown Senior High School with the Class of 1965. Bea Lynn met and started dating the love of her life, Jonathan Rand, the summer before their senior year in high school. She went on to earn an associate degree from Robert Morris College in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
A few years later on August 31, 1969, she married Jonathan at Temple Israel in Uniontown and enjoyed a grand reception at the historic Summit Inn Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. They were married for 55 years and raised three children—Justin, Stefan, and Lindsay.
As a child, Bea Lynn followed in her mother’s footsteps and started dancing. Her mother owned a dance school in Masontown, Pennsylvania, for 25 years, and Bea Lynn was an avid student and appeared in many of her mother’s dance productions. She also traveled to New York City in the summers to study ballet. Bea Lynn always spoke about her amazing childhood and all the time she spent with her cousins and her close relationship with her parents.
Bea Lynn loved her family beyond measure, especially her nine beautiful grandchildren. When she wasn’t busy taking care of her family, she taught aerobics classes, volunteered countless hours within the community at her children’s schools and various extracurricular organizations, and most recently worked at the front desk at Edward Fitness Center in Woodridge, Illinois, where she assisted and delighted her coworkers and patrons with her warmth and compassion. Other pastimes included making and decorating gingerbread houses, creating magical Easter celebrations for her grandkids, and spending time with her family and friends. Bea Lynn adored traveling to Cape Cod and NYC, loved gardening and bird watching, and was the master of clipping information out of newspapers and magazines to share with her children.
She is survived by her husband Jonathan Rand; three children: Justin (Diane) Rand of Elmhurst, Illinois, Stefan (Christi) Rand of Naperville, Illinois, and Lindsay (Ken) Kaulen of Aurora, Illinois; and nine grandchildren: Aidan Rand, Eva Rand, Koen Rand, Tyler Rand, Mason Rand, Nolan Rand, Sawyer Kaulen, Quinn Kaulen, and Harrison Kaulen.
Bea Lynn was preceded in death by her parents: Early and Ann Louise Gismondi.
Per her wishes, cremation rites are being accorded.
The family will receive friends and family for a Celebration of Life at Seven Bridges Golf Course, One Mulligan Drive, Woodridge, Illinois, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
