August 20, 1954 – August 17, 2026
Anthony "DOC" McKenzie Cales, born August 20, 1954, in Greenup, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, just days before his 72nd birthday.
Anthony was a man who found meaning in the simple and important things in life. He dedicated his years to the people he loved most his family and to the work of his hands is where he earned his nickname DOC because he was a Doctor at fixing anything. He was happiest when he was building, fixing, creating, or simply being there for the people who mattered to him. His hands were often busy, but his greatest work was the love and devotion he gave to his family.
Anthony leaves behind a wonderful family who will carry his memory and his love forward: His sister Suzan Robison; His daughter Cassandra Cales; His son Yelton Cales; His grandchildren Cameron Cales, Lane Cales, Jesse Cales, Anthony Peterson and Lacy Peterson. They were an important part of his life, and his presence will be deeply missed by each of them.
Anthony was not a man who needed many words or formal expressions of faith. Yet he carried within him a quiet spiritual connection to Psalm 23, finding comfort in its message of guidance, protection, and peace. Its familiar words offered a reflection of the journey he made through life and the path he now travels beyond it.
He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of family, his ability to work with his hands, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life.
Anthony leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind a family who loved him, lessons learned from watching him live, and a legacy that will continue through the generations.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” — Psalm 23:6
May Anthony "DOC" rest peacefully, surrounded by the love he gave so freely during his life.
