He was born in Azarbijan Province, Iran on December 11, 1935. He graduated from the University of Tehran with a PHD in political and judicial science. He was a member of the foreign ministry where he served and completed four missions over the course of 18 years. He traveled all across the world, serving in four countries, including Kabul, Afghanistan; Chicago, IL, United States; Copenhagen, Denmark; and finally Johannesburg, South Africa. At that beginning of these missions, he served as a member of the embassy while in Afghanistan. Then, in Chicago he became Deputy Consul-General. Next in Denmark, he was the Deputy to the Ambassador, and served several times as Acting Ambassador. Finally, while in South Africa he was Deputy Consul-General and served several times as Acting Consul-general. Within a year he would have become Ambassador, but during this time a regime change took place back in Iran. This led Ali’s family to move to the United States and become citizens.
After he retired from this line of work he turned his skills to the insurance industry, acting as a broker for Herman Insurance, Aetna, and United Financial. However, he fondly recalled his days as a diplomat. He was a true patriot, and never lost his love for his home country, often helping family members from back home in any way he could.
Ali loved learning more about history and politics, and would often spend hours reading books to further his knowledge of these two subjects. Even after his time as a diplomat, he continued to stay up to date on international news and world events.
Ali is survived by his wife of 58 years, Saideh; and his son Ali Reza. He is now resting with his beloved daughter Lida, whom he missed dearly over the years.
