Randy was born in Mobile, Alabama, the son of Louis Randall (Bay) Hollinger and Millie Cowan Hollinger. He graduated from Murphy High School, then attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He then attended dental school at Emory University, earning a Doctorate in Dental Science. He served as a dentist in the United States Army until he retired with the rank of Colonel in 1996. Upon retirement from the Army, Randy moved to Fairhope, where he practiced dentistry for about twenty years until his final retirement. In Fairhope, Randy enjoyed doing volunteer work for the Fairhope Public Library and the Haven Animal Shelter. Randy was also an enthusiastic outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, Louis Randall Hollinger, and his brother-in-law, Frank Rutherford Smith, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gail Freeman Hollinger; his mother, Millie Cowan Hollinger; his sisters, Louise Hollinger Smith and Anne Hollinger (Jim) Frost; and numerous nieces and nephews.
