

John (Jack) Raymond Uher, aged 86, passed away peacefully on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Gulf Shores, AL after one final Mardis Gras season. Born on April 16, 1939, in McKeesport, PA, Jack lived a life devoted to his wife, his family, his career and his love of sports, pets, music, nature, reading and food.
As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Jack served his country with honor and integrity as a Radio and Radar Repairman. He was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany when he met the love of his life, Renate Betty Sattes at a German Kareneval Mardi Gras Fasching party. They enjoyed traveling the Romantic Road as part of their whirlwind romance, married in Germany and then moved to the States. After his military service, he went back to school and then worked for US Steel in Pittsburgh, PA, Birmingham, AL and Gary, IN. Jack and Renate retired to the Sunshine state of Florida where they enjoyed their little piece of the “Nature Coast” region, time together, visits with family and friends and following their beloved sports teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Alabama Football.
Jack is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws Christopher (Nanci Disque) of GA, John Eric (Meaghan Henley) of AL, Joseph Kelly (Diane Wendt Uher) of IL; beloved grandchildren, Murphy, Crosby and Kirby Uher, Madison Henley, and Audrianna and Jonathan Augden Uher; brothers and sister-in-laws, Theodore (Nadia Uher) of PA and David (Debbie Uher) of OH; sister-in-law Auguste Sattes Kastler of Germany and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful and courageous wife of 62 years, Renate Betty (Sattes) Uher; his parents, John V and Sophie (Kissel) Uher; an infant brother; a brother, Philip D. Uher; sister-in-laws Patricia K. (Hourican) Uher and Rosemarie (Sattes) Wunsch; and brother-in-laws Ludwig Wunsch and Gerhard Kastler.
A private, family celebration of Jack’s life and a Military Funeral Service is TBD.
