John Simpson, 87, of Daphne, Alabama passed away on 2/12/2025 surrounded by his family. John was born on 11/8/1937 in McLeansboro, IL to Ruby and Milton Simpson.
John served his country as a horse mounted MP in the Army. After the military, he spent time as a Merchant Seaman traveling to 49 different countries. He loved to share stories of his travels to any that would listen. He met the love of his wife, Mary Simpson and at that moment his days at sea were over. He would tell you he loved the sea - but he loved that woman from Clay, KY more! He was a proud member of the Morganfield Police Department where he served for over 13 years.
John was an avid reader and all of the librarians knew him by name. He was a wealth of knowledge and random facts. He loved to make others laugh and share stories of his life and his travels.
John is preceded in death by his mother Ruby Denton Wright, father Milton Simpson, and his beloved little brother Charlie Suites.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Simpson, his sons Sean and Donny, his sister Rosie Miller, his grandchildren Tori, Cheryl, Samantha, Chloe, and Mason, and his great grandchildren Aden, Alora, Alleycia, Logan, Bella, Ashlynn, and Joseph.
