She was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 1, 1945 to the late Robert and Caroline Dyke. She graduated from Julianne High School and the University of Dayton. She worked as an Elementary and Religious Education teacher. She volunteered with Hospice Care for 30 years. She was lovingly known as a great listener to all of her patients and families. Dottie was an avid storyteller. She loved the mountains where she would watch cows and wild turkeys, giving the names Hazel and John to the turkey family. She was very artistic and good with crafts. She loved collecting snowmen. Dottie will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cared for everyone. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings Mary Louise Miller, Bob Dyke Jr. and Jim Dyke. Dottie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roger Lee Hall; five children, Michael (Amanda) Hall, Thomas (Jennifer) Hall, Christy Hall, Matthew (Stephanie) Hall and Melissa (Chris) King; eleven grandchildren, Allison, Jake, Austin, Abbie R., Josh, Sydney, Elaina, Jessie, Charlie K., Abbie H. and Charlie H.; great grandchild Lennie and one more on the way.
The family will receive friends at 1pm, with a Celebration of Life to follow @ 2pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4600 Preserve Parkway, Hoover, Alabama 35226.
The family would like to thank UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care Unit for the care and compassion they showed Dottie in her final days. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care in memory of Dottie Hall.
