Dave, as he liked to be called, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and his ability to make everyone, no matter who they were, comfortable in his presence. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dave is survived by his wife Kathryn, sons Barry and Brian, daughter-in-law Kimberly, his brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Kim, sister-in-law Marjorie and brother-in-law Mike. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins who love him dearly and shared in his joyful spirit. He was predeceased by his father George Fafard, his mother, Hope and adopted father, Harry Hardsog, his brother George (Gig) Hardsog, stepbrother Rip Hardsog, and stepsister Jeanne Hardsog.
After high school, Dave joined the Navy and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam Conflict. He returned home to New Hampshire where he married his first wife, Ellen, and raised two boys. He then moved to California where he met his second wife Kathryn. Together, they built a wonderful life in California filled with adventures and good times with family and friends. They eventually retired and moved to the beautiful state of Alabama where they made new friends and enjoyed new adventures.
Those who knew Dave will remember him for his infectious smile and sense of humor, his passion for sailing, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love, laughter, and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
