Ann Ethel Hoag passed away on August 6th 2023 at the age of 83. She was born and raised in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Ann was an eldest daughter, sweet sister, loving wife, kind mother, and dedicated home maker. Her family consisted of three older brothers (Casper, Bill and George) and three younger sisters (Janie, Mary and May) and hard working parents, Casper and Helen Priscilla. Life on a small farm cultivated her love for Mother Nature. She spoke fondly of milking cows, of Beauty her horse, of running through fields, and playing in the creek. Her life was dedicated to caring for her siblings, being the role model and supporting her parents in the daily chores of life. In 1959, Ann was married to Fernando Martinez and raised five children, Gregory Lloyd, Maria Margarita, Mimi Anita, Louis Manuel and Teresa Denise. Ann raised her children with love, patience, kindness, and spirituality. She was a dedicated mother, created a loving home, gathered the family for meals, instilled order and discipline which allowed her children to develop into heart-centered humans. She gave her love and affection to family and friends in times of happiness or sorrow. In our homes throughout the Panama Canal townsites, she created beautiful gardens to enjoy flowers, birds, and trees.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Casper and Helen Hoag, siblings Cappy, and George and son Gregory. She is survived by her children Maria Margarita Witte, Mimi Anita Azcarraga, Louis Manuel Martinez and Teresa Denise Martinez.
Ann lived a healthy life however the onset of dementia led to the decline of her mental and physical health. During Ann’s last week on earth, she received hospice care at Las Palomas in Sweet Home Alabama (Auburn). In her final moments of life, Ann shared her last breath peacefully and painlessly with her four children. As the family circle was completed, while Teresa tearfully looked on from an airplane, Ann took solace knowing that her children were lovingly reunited with her.
A burial ceremony is scheduled at Summit View Cemetery, 22 August 2023, Guthrie OK. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org. It is a nonprofit charity serving the nation for all causes of Dementia. The family would like to thank all the family and friends who shared their love with Ann Ethel Hoag throughout her life.
Who loves the rain, and loves her home, and looks on life with quiet eyes her I will follow through the storm and at her hearth, sit to keep me warm Who loves the rain, and loves her home, and looks on life with quiet eyes.
