On Friday, January 12th, Dick passed away peacefully. Susan, Mark, Steve and I were with him as we listened to How Great Thou Art and he took his last breath. Dick was two weeks shy of his 92nd birthday and lived a full and wonderful life.
For those who knew him well know he was a kind, loving, generous man. His passion for family, faith, the Iowa State Cyclones and Lake Okoboji was like no other. Dick loved every moment he could spend with Susan, Steve and our five grandchildren (Elizabeth, Christian, Quinn, Hunter and Jackson), and their families including our darling great-granddaughter, Cyra. Whether that time included playing cards, golfing, fishing or dancing his world came alive when we were together.
While the last few years brough plenty of challenges for Dick as we reflect back on his life we smile knowing what a wonderful man his was in all of our lives. Now, as each day passes without him, it’s photos like these that will keep us smiling. He will be missed dearly and we are so thankful we had so many wonderful years with him.
The Richard and Roberta Cox Scholarship has been established through the ISU Foundation for those wishing to honor his life.

Additionally, Evelyn’s House in St. Louis served as a remarkable place for us to spend the last days of Dick’s life. Those interested in supporting Evelyn’s House to help others experience the same positive experience may do so here.
