Michael was born on October 26, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN. His parents were James and Dorothy Lueders (nee Tucker). Mike was raised in Minneapolis in his younger years. The family moved to Florissant, MO when Mike was a teenager. He graduated from McCluer North High School. Mike was inducted into the U.S. Army and served two years during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he finished his degree at Tarkio Business college. He married Diane Cox (nee DuBois) and they had a son, Justin Lueders. Mike remarried in 1996 to Tami Devitre (nee Valerio).
Michael was known to his friends, family and acquaintances as a friendly and empathetic man. His compassionate nature would always shine through, revealing his charm and warmth. He was a genius when it came to sports trivia. He was a 24/7 hockey and baseball fan, rooting for the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals. He also played each sport and coached youth and high school teams. When the cardinals were through with the season, Football took over. He enjoyed watching live games on tv and rerun after rerun. Reading was not a passion, but he enjoyed detective shows and movies.
Michael served Overland-Occidental Masonic Lodge #623 as Worshipful Master and designated as "Mason of the Year" by the lodge. Mike was in charge of the Veteran Needy Families at Christmas time, buying, wrapping and delivering gifts. He also served as Worthy Patron Brentwood Chapter #429, Order of the Eastern Star and was Grand Escort to Grand Martha in the Grand Chapter of OES in Missouri in 2016.
He was employed as a Sales Manager and was an Insurance Agent until retirement. One of his goals in life was to receive a copyright for his movie script, "The Adventures of Dudley Dooright", which he did in 1993.
He is predeceased by his mother, father and sister Kathi Grampp (Don). Michael is survived by his wife Tami; his son, Justin; stepsons, David Devitre (Sarah) and Doug Devitre; three brother, Jim (Vicki), Jeff (Denise) and Rick (Tammy); and one sister, Lori Vonderheid (Steve); ten nephews and nieces; nd four energetic, loveable grandsons, Dante, Henri, Theo and Harry Devitre.
Services will be held February 17, 2024 at 5:00pm at Overland-Occidental Lodge #623, 10770 Page Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132. There are stairs with a chair lift available. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks on April 23, 2024. Time to be determined.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Michael's name to Accent Care Hospice, St. Louis, MO; Huntington's Disease Society of America; 505 Eighth Ave., New York, NY 10018; or Shriner's Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
