Marie was born on May 19, 1933 to the late Hilda and George Mueller of Ste. Genevieve. Growing up on the family farm instilled a love for the country that she cherished her whole life. As a line worker at Prince Gardner in St. Mary, Missouri, she created beautifully crafted leather wallets and handbags. Marie was a loving grandmother who enjoyed gardening, taking country drives to appreciate the changing colors of the leaves, nursing a pot of coffee all day, waving to neighbors from her front porch, making the best apple pie you’ve ever had, and admiring Melvin’s amazing hair. Marie is survived by her children, Brenda Gilliam and Sandra Dallas; her grandchildren, Katherine Pogue, Sarah Gerber, and Roberta Dallas; and her great-grandchildren, Lucy, Harrison, Hydee, Hanley, and Mateyo. She was a grandmother-in-law to Eric Pogue and Craig Legens.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Papin; and son, Russell Basler.
Marie will be remembered for her spunk with which she lived her life. She was loved by many and leaves a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of a visitation or cemetery service, please consider making a donation to your favorite animal shelter in her honor.
