Kenneth Karl Martin

Born in Chicago, Ken and his wife Carole (Henck) raised their daughters Lisa and Lora in Arlington Heights, IL before moving first to Chesterfield, MO and then to Sarasota, FL.

Ken worked as a truck driver and as a department manager at Sears, before moving from the Army Reserves to full-time military service, where he retired as a Colonel. Following Carole's death he enjoyed travels, particularly cruising, with his long-time companion Janet Wright and later with companion Barbara Joseph.

He is survived by his daughters Lisa Martin (Jim Hilker) of Saint Charles, MO and Lora Pearman of Sarasota, FL and four grandchildren Emma, Brendan, and Amanda Martin-Hilker and Riley Pearman.

Ken had a troubled childhood which motivated him to be a volunteer in the Sarasota school district with at-risk teens, coaching them in self-esteem exercises. He was an active member at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sarasota and the Sarasota Rotary Club.
