Jerry joins his parents, Robert and Vernette Durbin, and his life partner, Jeannie (Willie) Wright, in Heaven, and is survived by his children: Sherrie (David) Brown; Kelly (Greg) Barton and Stephanie Doss; his Grandchildren: Angela Harvey, David (Oz) Osborne, David (Michael) Boschert, Jessica Marshall, Chrystal Brown and Chelsea Doss and a whopping 18 Great-Grandchildren; his siblings, Loretta Hug; Jim Durbin; Helen (Raymond F) Schneider; Deanna (Jerry) Snyder and Reggie (Sheri) Durbin; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Jerry was born in Holcomb, Missouri. He spent most of his life in St. Louis and the surrounding area. He had many joys in life and was exceptionally good in all activities he pursued. He was a Golden Glove champion boxer in Highschool, he also enjoyed Barefoot water skiing (show off), Horse Broom Polo and Handball just to name a few. He raised horses and loved riding and participating in rodeos. He coached his daughter Sherrie’s softball team for many years. Jerry’s biggest pleasure in life was spending time with his family. He found immense joy in the company of kids, who adored him, and the perpetual smiles and laughter that filled the air.
Throughout his life he embodied a strong work ethic from his early days at the Hostess company then thriving as a striping business owner, and eventually finding success in the asphalt industry. He was used to working long hours in the sun, and he took great pride in saying that he could outwork most of the younger generation even in his eighties. He rarely stopped smiling, was fun, easy-going and an amazing person who loved his family and friends. Jerry was extremely loved and will be very deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
