James was born in St. Louis, MO on March 10,1949 to James and Mary (nee Arterburn) Heafner.
James was a proud American who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam (1969-70), as a member of the 39th Engineers and was a life-long member of VFW Post 3944.
James was a life-long resident of the St. Louis area. He grew up in North St. Louis (Walnut Park) and finished his life in St. Ann. He graduated high school at Augustinian Academy and earned his college degree from Washington University.
He was a true fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed playing cards and all genres of music. He also loved to travel.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Mary and Patti, his sister in law Sue, 5 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 great-nephews and his brother-in-law Les.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, his brother Andrew and brother-in-law James.
Jim was an eccentric, loveable man who will be missed by his family and life-long friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life and Military Honors on May 19th at 1:00pm at VFW Post 3944, 10815 Midland Blvd., Overland, MO 63114.
