Fred was born in Norway, ME and grew up in nearby Mechanic Falls. In his senior year at Mechanic Falls High School he longed to see the world and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard.
His 7 years were spent as a Radarman based out of Portland, ME followed by time in Juneau, AK and Sitka, AK. Fred was proud of his service which opened his eyes to the world of aviation.
He moved to Tulsa, OK to attend Spartan School of Aeronautics, graduating in the top of his class in 1957. He went on to a distinguished career in aviation as a Lead Mechanic with Frontier Airlines, eventually retiring from Continental Airlines with 36 years in the industry.
When Fred wasn’t keeping the big birds flying, he was building and flying his own aircraft. He had a very successful business rebuilding airplanes. Fred enjoyed the outdoors through volunteering with the Boy Scouts, fishing, backyard gardening or just hanging at the lake with his beloved dog Camy.
He was a lifelong member of the Free Masons. He was a member of the Kora Shrine Temple, a 32 degree in the Scottish Rite, Valley of the Androscoggin, Portland, ME and a member of Tyrian Lodge, Mechanic Falls, ME.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Carol Perry-Carvallo (Juan) and grandsons Brett and Mark Carvallo.
He is predeceased by wife Marsha (Grable) Perry and son Kevin Perry, his parents, Carl and Alberta (Patch) Perry and sister Carline (Perry) Rowe.
Fred proudly served his country and as such, will be laid to rest alongside his wife in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
