Anne is survived by her son Jamie Grassmann and his husband, Jim Petosa; her daughters Jessica Mallard and her husband Charles Mallard, and Alycia Cissell. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Sean Schlecht, Nathan Mallard, and Sorcha Cissell.
Anne Marie was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on December 11, 1943 to George and Miriam Potter (nee Myers). She was the eldest of four children and raised in Casper, Wyoming after World War II. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Mike Olsen; her brother and sister-in-law Tim and Debi Potter; and her brother and sister-in-law Tom and Margaret Potter.
Anne Marie was proud to have lived all over the United States, calling home such places as Memphis, Tennessee; Portsmouth, Virginia; Death Valley, California; Casper, Wyoming; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and finally, St Louis, Missouri. She fell in love with each of these places for their unique charms and loved to talk about her experiences in each.
Anne Marie worked as a master cartographer for Sun Oil and Oryx Energy before returning to school to become an occupational therapist. She received her degree at the age of 50, which she used to remind people it is never too late to chase your dreams. As an occupational therapist, she was delighted to have worked in schools, nursing homes, home health and even with a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program before settling as an acute care occupational therapist with OU Medical Center, from where she finally retired at 70, though she would continue her home health until she moved to St Louis.
Anne Marie was very proud to have served on the Oklahoma Medical Licensure Board for Occupational Therapy, the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapy, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and the Oklahoma Occupational Therapy Association.
Services will be held on June 10 at 11am at First Unitarian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family asks for donations to be made to the Peace House or a charity that reminds you of Anne Marie in lieu of flowers.
