Born on May 18, 1940, in Shenandoah, Iowa, Freddie embraced a life filled with creativity and an enduring appreciation for the beauty of nature around her.
Freddie was the beloved wife of David Diskerud and a devoted mother to her daughter Christina (William) Travers. She enjoyed being a grandmother to Kelli, Andrea and Aaron and her role as a great-grandmother to Philipp, Jayde, Emmett, and Emery. She is also survived by her sister Loretta (Weitz). Freddie was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Loretta (Parman) Micke.
Professionally, Freddie worked in sales and office roles at Famous-Barr for over 20 years. Her dedication and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Socially she kept in touch with friends as far back as grade school and made new everywhere she lived from Missouri, Idaho, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Freddie held a special connection to Soda Springs, Idaho—a place she deeply loved for the beautiful mountains and abundant snow. She treasured the memories of horseback and ATV riding, cattle drives and cross country skiing in the beautiful nature all around. The beauty inspired her love for photography. A gentle soul with a love for Maltese dogs, Freddie found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
A talented cross-stitcher with remarkable attention to detail, Freddie created treasured works of beauty that will remain cherished by those who received them. Her recipes for potato salad, baked beans, and pie crust strawberry shortcake are fondly remembered and will continue to bring smiles to family gatherings.
Freddie’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her as a kind-hearted woman whose love for family, friends and nature shone brightly throughout her life. May her legacy bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
