Ryck graduated from Weslaco high school in 1980, he then attended several colleges and finished his bachelor’s degree in criminology at Texas A & M University in Kingsville, Texas in 2021. Ryck was working on a master’s degree in criminology at Texas A & M University, Kingsville at the time of his passing.
Ryck had a career in medical billing and coding that spanned decades. He worked for several organizations including Health Masters in San Antonio, Texas, Baptist Health System in San Antonio, Texas, and First Step Recovery in Lincoln, Nebraska, retiring at the age of 62. Ryck continued working part time, travelling between many nearby towns doing retail merchandising in several different stores, while attending school. Ryck enjoyed this job because he loved driving, meeting people and talking.
Ryck’s passion was to rescue animals. He never hesitated to stop, even in heavy traffic, and pick up a cat or dog, bringing them home to his modest ranch. One day on his way to class in Kingsville, he even picked up a goat that was standing in the middle of the highway with an 18-wheeler quickly approaching. The truck came to a complete stop while Ryck put the goat in the car.
