

Patt Edwards Griffin, born on January 9, 1946, in Austin, Travis County, Texas, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 78 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Patt was a dynamic force, known for her vivacious personality and her love for country dancing. She was a loving and kind individual, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own.
Throughout her life, Patt was passionately involved in various pursuits. She was an accomplished horse breeder, trainer, and rancher, and later pursued a career as a real estate agent. Patt's hobbies included fishing, dancing and anything water related, embodying her philosophy of living life to the fullest.
Patt was a member of Trinity by the Sea in Port Aransas, Texas, where she found spiritual solace and community. She was also a member in the Port Aransas Parrot Head Club and the William Barret Travis Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas being a seventh generation Texan.
She started out in life with a Love for Horses, that only grew as she raised two sons on a famous and well-respected Paint Horse Ranch in Austin, Texas where she raised and showed Grand Champion Paint Horses.
She had countless huge trophies, silver awards, saddle awards, and will always be remembered from those days of her Legacy of Long Tall Texan sire to many a Famous offspring and one of the Greatest Show Horses The one and only Sioux Leo San, a Mare who was Sweetest of all time, and all of Our Love. Many of Patt’s legacy will be offered to the archives of the American Paint Horse Association to memorialize her legacy.
She could do anything she set her mind to, as she transitioned to becoming a Multi-Million Dollar Producer in Real Estate. Where she met her Lifelong Best Friend, who was mine then her and Bill’s Instructor and Mentor in Real Estate, and is survived by her, Pat Strong.
Patt had a passion for Live Music and Dancing beyond words can express.
Patt’s other passion one was of the water, particularly the Ocean, where she eventually retired to the Island of Port Aransas. She loved all things Aquatic, she loved Scuba Diving and Snorkeling, and was accomplished at Fishing. She loved aquatic life and kept many species including sharks and rays in aquariums. Patt and her best friend shared their Love for the ocean and made many amazing memories on the Island of Port A.
She also had a Passion for Birds, especially her Beloved African Grey, “Harley”, her companion of over 22 years. Harley passed unexpectedly, leaving a huge hole in her heart.
She was a Compassionate Caregiver. Up and through hospice care with her Mother, Martha Lel Hawkins, up and till her passing.
She would not want us to be sad, in her own words that she preemptively wrote for her headstone along side of her mother:
“IT'S TIME FOR ME TO GO.
DON’T LOOK FOR ME HERE.
LOOK FOR ME IN THE BIRDS,
THE WIND, AND THE TREES.
I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU.”
I am sure she would also want you to remember her when you look into the Water, Freshwater, Inland Bays, and Mother Ocean.
She would want you to Remember her with a Smile and good memories, and not be sad.
She LOVED her Retirement and The Island of Port Aransas and of her Friends, and the Good Times.
She is Beyond Our Sight, but still with us, and her Legacy she left on this Life and this World will Never be Forgotten.
Smile and Think of the Good Times, Raise a Toast to her Frequently, Family and Friends You WILL See her Again!
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons, Alfred Clifford Edwards and William Henry Edwards; grandchildren, Michael Anthony Edwards, Victoria Elizabeth Edwards, and Rachel Katherine West; and great-grandson, Warner O'Neil Edwards. Patt was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Willis Griffin; mother, Martha Lel Purcell; and brother, Gordon Griffin.
In remembrance of Patt, the family has chosen to honor her memory through individualized private sessions. Contributions in her memory can be made to Trinity by the Sea or Parrot Heads of Port Aransas.
The Neptune Society in Corpus Christi, Texas, is assisting the family during this time.
