

Born on June 5, 1943, in Reynosa, Mexico, Marcelino lived a life defined by hard work, creativity, laughter, and love for his family. He pursued higher education at the University of Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering. His dedication and talent led him to a long and successful career as a structural engineer. Throughout his career, he worked for respected companies including Brown & Root and Bechtel before founding his own engineering company, Gonzalez Structures. He later continued his work with Kellogg and ultimately SNC Lavalin, where he concluded his distinguished engineering career.
On August 1, 1970, Marcelino married the love of his life, Anita Rodriguez, in Laredo, Texas. Together they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, family traditions, and lasting memories. Some of the family’s most treasured memories include traveling throughout Europe, Canada, and the West Coast with his beloved wife, fishing trips with his son, holiday visits with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, and making tamales together at Christmas.
Marcelino was a true outdoorsman and a man of many talents. He loved hunting, fishing, archery, riding motorcycles, and working with his hands through painting, photography, woodworking, taxidermy, baking fresh bread, and knife making. Always eager to learn something new, he had an incredible ability to create and build with ease. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, creativity, and sharp mind. He loved telling jokes, solving problems, and working on his many projects, always bringing skill and curiosity to everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Gonzalez and Manuel Gonzalez; his brother, Manuel Gonzalez Jr.; and his sisters, Rosa Gonzalez and Ginni Gonzalez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anita Gonzalez; his son, Nino Gonzalez; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Timothy Brown; his brother, Bernie Gonzalez; his sister, Gilda Gonzalez; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brown and Colton Brown.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mary Kay Faint, a dear family friend, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at Cimarron Place and Christus Spohn Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
Marcelino’s legacy of love, laughter, craftsmanship, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Marcelino Gonzalez will be held on June 5 at 3:00 p.m. at 6040 Castle Way, Midlothian, TX. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate his life and legacy.
