John Charles Tietze of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas passed away on March 7, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born on January 25, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Albert and Dena Tietze. He grew up with his big brother Albert and together they had many adventures.
John grew up in San Antonio and attended Jefferson High School, Class of 1963.
John joined the United States Air Force in 1965 and served for 4 years as an crypto instructor. He continued his education at the University of Texas at Arlington where he received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
John married Linda Richardson on April 26,1969. They made their life and raised their three children in the Dallas area, where he had a long career with Raytheon as a Senior Systems Engineer. He and Linda retired to Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas in 2005. John enjoyed retirement, visiting children and grandchildren, and traveling with Linda. He attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and served as a greeter and Mass Coordinator. He was involved with Habitat for Humanity through SEAS. John attended an Emmaus Walk in 2006 and was an involved supporter of the Emmaus community of Boerne, Texas.
John was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He was always involved in whatever activities his children, grandchildren, and wife were interested in, from soccer to music to Boy Scouts to gardening. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and working with computers. He was a helpful and supportive friend, helping those around him whenever he could.
John was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Dena Tietze. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda; children Steven (Paige) Tietze, Suzanne (Walt) Carter, and Lauren Stevens; grandchildren Rebecca and Madison Tietze, Lucy, Max and Molly Margaret Carter, and Jack, Caroline, Grant, Georgia, and Wyatt Stevens; brother Albert (Deleyce) Tietze and many nieces, nephews, and their children.
John was a generous spirit, quick witted, and always had a smile. He will be remembered fondly by all and his one-liners will live on in those who loved him.
Memorials may be made in John’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church: 8500 Cross Mountain Trail, San Antonio, Texas 78255
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Visitation will be 10:30am, Mass at 11:00am, and a reception to follow at the Marron Center.
