Born in May 1946 in Lakewood, Ohio, to John and Edna Alton, Bill grew up to become a man defined by quiet strength and steady dedication. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and served six years earning the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class. The U.S. Navy's Nuclear Power Program set him on a path that would shape the rest of his professional career. After his service, Bill worked as an engineer at nuclear power plants across the United States and Canada.
Bill lived a life marked by enduring faith: to his country, his work, and most importantly, his family. A man of few words, he showed love through steady presence and unwavering support. He enjoyed fishing trips, woodworking projects, and exploring God’s creation through camping and visiting National Parks with those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his sister, Jane; his children, Andra (Mark), Suzanne, and Jonathan (Stephanie); grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His family finds comfort knowing he has heard the words, “Well done good and faithful servant,” and they will forever cherish his gentle reminders to “Take care.”
A service will be held at Grace Community Church in Falcon, Colorado, on March 9 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Pikes Peak Hospice or the National Parks Conservation Association.
