Julie was a person of overflowing enthusiasm. She woke most mornings cheerfully thinking “I wonder what is going to happen today?” In contrast, she experienced chronic pain throughout her life—both physically and emotionally—which provided a deep well of compassion for others.
Friends and loved ones have written notes and cards of condolence that have described her as audacious, a big personality, bold, brave, caring, compassionate, a creative thinker, dedicated to personal growth, determined, energetic, expressive, a fixer, a force of nature, fun, hard-working, hearty, intelligent, lovely, mischievous, nature-loving, one-of-a-kind, opinionated, purposeful, unconventional, unique, whole-hearted, and having a zest for life.
At various periods in time, Julie was a competitive athlete, a professional dancer, a deaconess, a highly decorated girl scout, a legal administrator, a photo and runway model, a therapeutic massage therapist working in hospice care, and a voting rights advocate.
At all times, Julie was an activist for equal rights, a cook feeding the hungry, a joyful gardener, a lifelong learner, an avid reader, an inquisitive student, and an individual dedicated to serving people. Upbeat despite enduring troubles and active in the face of indifference, Julie lived to improve the world around her and enjoy herself as much as possible. So many of us miss her terribly and will carry her indomitably positive spirit with us as we go forward.
Julie is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren, and a son.
“May God’s grace rest upon you and his love fill your heart. His grace is sufficient for you.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
