Jean P. Reynolds

Jean Louise (Phillips) Reynolds, age 94, passed away on September 15, 2026. She was born on March 23, 1932, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Paul Jennings Phillips and Lavila Irene (Cloos) Phillips.

Jean met Don Eugene Reynolds at a church youth group outing in Sand Hills, Indiana. They were married on August 25, 1951, in Illinois. Following a honeymoon trip to Colorado, Don and Jean knew that Colorado Springs was where they eventually wanted to make their home. In 1954, they moved to Security, Colorado, and later settled in Colorado Springs.

Jean attended Colorado College and pursued her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. She devoted many years to educating children at several elementary schools in the district before retiring in 1987. Teaching reflected Jean’s lifelong love of learning and her commitment to others.

Throughout her years in Colorado Springs, Jean treasured the many friendships she developed through her involvement in the community. She served as a docent at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and was active in the Church of Christ, Scientist; the American Association of University Women; Friendship Force; and numerous book clubs, cuisine groups, and hiking clubs.

Jean and her husband of 71 years shared a love of the outdoors and adventure. They spent many relaxing summers fishing, birdwatching, and enjoying time together at their Carrol Lakes cabin. During the winters, Jean made certain the entire family learned to ski, creating a tradition that became an important and lasting part of family life.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Erick Lee Reynolds (Carolyn, deceased) and Randall David Reynolds (Karin); her daughter, Toni Wilcox; and seven grandchildren: Juliette Denton (Marc), Tristan Reynolds, Nicholas Reynolds (Kacey), Christopher Reynolds (Kate), Dawn Ponton, Brandy Wilcox, and Heather O’Dell. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered for her passion for learning, her creativity and artwork, her generosity, and the many ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her devotion to family, her friendships, and her appreciation for learning and the beauty of the world will remain an enduring part of her legacy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2026, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4925 Farmingdale Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial donations to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill St, Colorado Springs, CO 80906
