James “Jim” Vincent Quinn, 76, was born on August 19, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, to Francis Gerald Quinn and Helen Gertrude Broyles. He passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on September 11, 2026, following a stroke. He was also known as Jimmy and JQ to those who knew him best.
Jim grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, and then graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1968. He had a vast array of jobs in his early years, including paperboy, IHOP cook, hearse driver, chef in Breckenridge by night and ski bum by day, and miner throughout Arizona and Colorado, including working on blasting the Eisenhower Tunnel. He ultimately became an airplane mechanic and took great pride in working for Mayo Aviation at Centennial Airport in Colorado, servicing Flight for Life aircraft and private jets for many years.
Jim married Karen Schaal on July 14, 1979, on a sailboat on Lake Dillon, and their daughter, Lisa, joined the family several years later. Jim had a variety of hobbies and passions throughout his life. He was a backstroke swimmer in high school, rode motorcycles, skied for numerous winters, and was an avid golfer later in life. Some of his favorite memories included hanging out with his lifelong friends at places like Lake Powell in Arizona, Lake McConaughy in Nebraska, and Rocky Point in Mexico. He loved music and the family’s player piano, and could often be found singing and dancing at a local pub. He often told stories of his wild adventures, including his hippie days, biker-dude crashes, and fire-walking exploits. His family fondly remembers trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe, enjoying Broadway shows at the theatre, and cheering on the Denver Broncos at home games together.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Francis Gerald Quinn; his mother, Helen Gertrude Broyles; his stepmother, Margaret Lucille Evans; his wife, Karen Quinn; his in-laws, George Stanley and Janette Schaal; and his brothers, Frank, Tom, Joe, and John Quinn.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Lisa Robinson; son-in-law, Hans; grandsons, Reily, Isaac, and Lucas; his sister, Kathy Silverman; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Jim will always be remembered for his quick-witted humor, wicked awesome ponytail, and fierce independence. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at O’Malley’s Pub in Palmer Lake, CO, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 1 PM.
